Print Height:
With the optional vertical axis extension set, the wallPen is extremely flexible and can be extended in 2″ increments. The minimum setup height is 5 ft 7″, and the maximum is 13 ft.

Print Width:
Unlimited.

Due to the limitations of inkjet technology, there are margins in corners near adjacent walls, the floor, and the ceiling. These are approximately:

Left: 2.3″
Right: 3.3″
Top: 9.8″
Bottom: 9.8″

You can print virtually any graphic, sketch, image, logo, or text!

This means AI, EPS, TIF, PNG, JPG, and BMP files are generally no problem. After editing your designs in a graphics program such as Photoshop, GIMP, or Affinity Photo, you can easily prepare them for printing using the wallPen app on Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android devices.

Even very small text and colorful logos next to or on doors and in hallways are possible. The device is also an ideal signage solution for businesses, schools, hospitals, hotels, museums, and many other institutions.

You can even print from paper originals! Using a simple flatbed scanner, we’ve already achieved fantastic results by scanning at high resolution. Processing and printing old templates, maps, drawings, postcards, sketches, photos, or paintings works perfectly, and the results are truly impressive. With just a few clicks, paper originals can be transformed into large-scale wall art!

You drive to the customer in your car and carry the six handy transport bags of the wallPen to the place where you want to print. There you assemble the components within just 5 minutes, align the wallPen to the wall, load the image to be printed and start the printing process.

See for yourself...

Yes.

An integrated floor-leveling system compensates for uneven floors. Laser sensors detect wall irregularities of up to 3.3″ in real time, and the printhead dynamically adjusts to the wall's surface during operation.

We use a highly durable, plastic-like UV ink that cures instantly under the integrated UV curing lamps and can be used on almost any surface. This allows for printing on plaster, wallpaper, wood, brick, latex paint, stone, clinker, plastic, metal, glass, most types of tiles, and many other materials, often without any issues.

Even natural stone, clinker, or textured plaster can generally be printed without problems, up to a surface contour depth of approximately 0.4 inches.

The wallPen’s printing speed ranges between approximately 8.6 and 107.6 square feet per hour, depending on the selected quality and resolution.

In practice, a speed of around 21.5 to 32.3 square feet per hour provides an ideal balance between time and print quality for most applications.

Of course! On glass, prints can be removed using a ceramic cooktop scraper or a razor blade. Otherwise, a print can simply be painted over in two or three coats at any time.

Only on wood, sanding is required — and for materials like metal or concrete, removal typically involves sandblasting, cork blasting, dry ice blasting, or glass bead blasting.

You get what you pay for — and when you buy cheap, you often end up buying twice.

Why do we say this?

You should carefully consider and decide for yourself whether you want to run a professional business with professional equipment and support in the long term, or whether you want to surround yourself with questionable low-cost technology from the Far East. While it may come cheap, it certainly won’t meet your standards for quality and sustainability. If you want to work professionally, you need professional tools.

So, please ask yourself:

  • What if something doesn't work as expected?
  • What if spare parts are no longer available?
  • What if there are no more software updates in the future?
  • What if you urgently need support?
  • What if the print results aren’t what you expected?
  • What if a competitor suddenly owns a wallPen and steals the show from you?
  • What if your customer refuses to accept solvent-based inks from unregulated foreign sources in their building?

Most owners of such machines find out the hard way why their equipment was so unbelievably cheap — and why their entire business is now at risk. They’ve lost time, money, and trust just to save a few euros per operating hour.

Keep in mind: most print shops spend serious money on their flatbed printers, even though similar devices are available from China at a fraction of the cost. Why don’t they cut costs here? Because they think economically and long-term, not just about the cheapest upfront price.

Quality comes at a price — for good reason.

Nothing!
This company has attempted to copy our machine and is even illegally using our protected trademark “wallPen” against our will. The company is violating multiple laws, and we strongly warn against purchasing these low-quality knock-offs, whether directly or through their partner network.

The risk for customers:
Such devices are not legally permitted to be operated, as they violate applicable regulations (CE compliance) and patent rights.

Most likely, yes.
In the United States, various federal, state, and local programs support innovative technologies and small business investments like the wallPen. However, the type and availability of funding or grant programs can vary greatly depending on your location and business profile.

Examples include programs offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA), state-level economic development agencies, and innovation or manufacturing grants provided through local government initiatives.

We recommend checking with your local Small Business Development Center (SBDC) or economic development

Technical matters

The wallPen runs on standard household AC voltage (110–120V or 220–240V, 50/60 Hz). Power consumption during operation is just around 200 watts, less than a typical hair dryer. In idle mode, it consumes less than 40 watts.

No, the wallPen is designed as it is: a proven and flexible solution for perfect printing on vertical surfaces.

However, we do offer a range of options to meet specific project requirements. This makes our solution even more future-proof for users and easily expandable at any time.

Yes, a very detailed English manual (200+ pages) is provided with the machine, in PDF format.

Yes, it is motor-driven and integrated into the front axis to allow printing on curved surfaces as well.

The wallPen E2 operates on a 32-bit ARM multiprocessor system with a custom-developed UNIX-based operating system.

The total weight of the base unit is approximately 196 lbs, distributed across 6 portable bags. The heaviest bag weighs around 49 lbs and can be easily carried and stored.

Printing process matters

Vertical printing is carried out using four or five separate Drop-on-Demand (DoD) inkjet printheads with CMYK(W) colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, and optional White).

The device moves automatically along vertical surfaces on a guided, patented wheeled platform, controlled by laser sensors. Rails are not strictly required but are recommended to compensate for uneven floors.

The wallPen supports print resolutions ranging from 300 to 1,200 DPI.

In most cases, images are rasterized and printed at 600 x 720 DPI. Don’t be misled by the exaggerated figures often claimed by competitors — genuine 600 DPI on a wall is more than sufficient in real-world applications, especially since wall prints typically involve larger motifs viewed from a certain distance.

Specially formulated, plastic-like, low-odor wallPen UV ink made in Europe. The ink is supplied in 200 ml bottles, and refilling can be done at any time — quickly and easily, even during a print pause.

UV ink has a shelf life of at least 9 to 12 months from the date of delivery.

Since the ink can be refilled quickly and cleanly at any time, there is virtually no limit to the amount of ink you can use per design.

As for the cost, ink expenses typically range between $2 and $5 per square meter based on experience. However, the device comes with a 12-month ink flat rate (optionally extendable to 24 months).

If needed, ink can be refilled cleanly and without drips via a connection on the back of the printhead housing. Unlike most other inkjet systems, this method results in minimal ink waste!

We strongly recommend using only wallPen ink. Using third-party ink will void all warranties.

We guarantee that our ink will remain colorfast for at least 12 years in indoor environments. Outdoors, the UV resistance is approximately 2 years without protection, but it can be extended to over 5 years by applying a transparent UV coating.

In general, the ink is instantly dry and scratch-resistant immediately after printing.

The printer is operated via the wallPen App. This proprietary, in-house developed software supports common image file formats (.jpg, .png, .tif, .psd, .psb) and is included with the system.

By installing the software on your devices, you can explore many of the wallPen’s functions and operations in simulation mode — even before using the actual machine.

The device can be operated safely and conveniently using any WI-Fi-enabled device — for example, via the included Android tablet.

Insurance regulations and coverage options vary widely between states and providers in the U.S. We recommend contacting your local insurance agent or broker to explore suitable coverage for your wallPen — such as protection against theft, liability, vandalism, or even accidental damage.

The lifespan largely depends on how the device is handled, maintained, and cared for. With proper care, a printhead can even last for several years.

However, if one does fail, it's not a major issue. It can be replaced individually, as we do not use “combined printheads” like some of our Chinese competitors. Each color has its dedicated printhead.

You can order any spare part or accessory either from your local wallPen partner or directly from us. Most spare parts are shipped from stock. Accessories (such as custom axis extensions) may take up to 30 business days for delivery.
